Matte World Digital created the shots
that established Dracula's castle for the film. The concept
as conceived by director Francis Ford Coppola, was to subliminally
simulate a man sitting on the throne, with a claw-like hand.
The
live-action plate was photographed on an interrior set at Sony
sound stages.
The
final composite shows horse and carriage escorting Mina to Dracula's
castle.
Looking up from the base of Dracula's castle, the camera tilts
up a castle miniature. Burning torch elements were also added
with interactive lighting.
